Although our Washington Redskins regular and playoff season is over, there will be a lot going on between now and the 2016 football season. The East West Bowl game was last Saturday and the Senior Bowl is January 30th, and you’ll probably see some future Washington Redskins playing in these games. NFL coaches coach both the North and South teams and virtually all NFL teams have scouts and coaches scouting the practices and the game. These games give clues to who the teams should pick in the April 28-30 NFL Draft.
Nobody likes to end the season with a loss, but the Skins faithful have plenty to be thankful for. For one thing, we have a great franchise quarterback – but the best part about it is ending the season with Cousins still healthy.
The team is a strong cohesive unit without all the ‘drama queen’ issues that so many other teams went through this year. The coaching staff is not only competent, but works well with each other while retaining the respect of all the players.
It was the calm before the storm; our Redskins were 2-4 and heading into Game Seven with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when Coach Jay Gruden called a “Code Red”.
The media had been posting mostly negative articles about our team and ridiculed Gruden’s “Code Red” remark. Little did they know that this team was about to overcome their new team problems as they regained previously injured starters. Together, players and coaches, through rigorous long hours of hard work and film study progressed because they held themselves accountable. Players learned from their mistakes, missed assignments, blown tackles and blocks, penalties, all became valuable learning experiences. Kirk Cousins became obsessed with film study and got better. Veteran leaders behind the scenes became mentors, stressing the pride that comes with winning and letting the younger players know that they didn’t intend to play for a losing team.
“The first time’s the charm, the second time it’s payback”
Our Washington Redskins will clinch the NFC East Division with a win at Philadelphia vs the Eagles. Although the Eagles are a game behind and lost to the Arizona Cardinals & the Redskins had a big win over the Buffalo Bills, this is a division game. The Philadelphia Eagles will hit us with everything they have and they know they must win or else our Redskins will be the NFC East champs.
It’s time. Time to win our last regular season home-game. It’s time to win two games in a row. It’s time to get a balanced running and passing attack. It’s time for our offense to capitalize on turnovers by scoring points. It’s time for our offense to score over 30 points a game. It’s time to make the blocks, tackles, and execute each and every play.
On Pearl Harbor Day the Dallas Cowboys will play our Washington Redskins in our house. December 7th 1941 saw lots of bombs landed on Pearl Harbor, this December 7th Kirk Cousins may land some bombs himself on our archrival the Dallas Cowboys as our Redskins pound some humble into their pie.
