To quote great Washington Redskins HOF coach George Allen, “THE FUTURE IS NOW”. Little did he know then that the term would take on an entire new meaning in the future to come. Bear in mind back in the 70’s, defenses ruled. Today the focus is on offenses, and the rules are totally different from what they were then.
It’s time. Time to win our last regular season home-game. It’s time to win two games in a row. It’s time to get a balanced running and passing attack. It’s time for our offense to capitalize on turnovers by scoring points. It’s time for our offense to score over 30 points a game. It’s time to make the blocks, tackles, and execute each and every play.
XX Our Washington Redskins won their first road game of the season by “bear-ly” edging the Chicago Bears by 3 points. Redskins dominated the first quarter and had a 14 to 0 lead before the Bear defense got tough. Not a lot of “style points” to discuss and it was a close, hard fought defensive game.
Sunday our Washington Redskins showed us that Jay Gruden’s offense is explosive when the players know the system and play at the level expected of NFL players. I knew the hiring of Jay Gruden would bring Washington the same explosive offense he had with the Cincinnati Bengals – which helped them to 3 straight playoff appearances when he was the OC.
Yesterday (as you already know) the New England Patriots beat the Washington Redskins 27 to 10. On the other hand an asteroid didn’t wipe out the New England coast, California didn’t slide into the ocean, Yellowstone Park didn’t disappear under megatons of volcanic pyroclastic debris, and Europe wasn’t invaded by masses of un-dead zombies.
