PreSeason Week 3: Bills @ Redskins

Of the four preseason games this one will probably be the most valuable to our starting players and to our coaching staff.  I believe we will our starters at least the first half before coaches start “experimenting, trying different packages, and backup players.  Hopefully we will see our 2016 Washington Redskins play a penalty-free game dominating the line of scrimmage and scoring points.  Also, a top secondary and a powerful front 7 defense is desirable.

My gameday focus will be on our offensive line and running-backs –  Can we run the ball against a very good Bills front 7?  Matt Jones is injured & not playing, so we’ll probably see Robert “Fat” Kelley, Chris Thompson, Mack Brown, but I would love to see my favorite with the starting offensive line in front of him, and you guessed it, Keith Marshall. I predict if he gets to play vs the Buffalo Bills, he will get a block and nobody in the NFL can catch him. Also like to see them use fullback Joe Kerridge, but probably will not until Game 4 of the pre-season.

I am confident our offense will score 21 or more points in the 1st half of the game. Our elite quarterback Kirk Cousins knows this system and can audible now. Our Wide Receivers and Tight Ends are the best in the NFL. Nobody can cover DeSean Jackson one-on-one and nobody runs more perfect routes that Pierre Garcon and Jordan Reed. Quick Jamison Crowder hard to cover on slants. Expect to hear the band play HAIL TO THE REDSKINS loud and proud and often. I wish we could see Josh Doctson in the game, but he is on the PUP list.

I see improvement in our ST, Special Teams with the addition of some rookies and David Bruton, Free Agent Scot got us from the Super Bowl winning Denver Broncos defense. He is “low key”, but a switch gets flipped when he is on the field. Our punter Tress Way is a weapon, pins the opponent back deep, high hang-time on his punts, “coffin corner time” and our field-goal kicker Dustin Hopkins is very accurate. ST has a few things to work on but I am sure by the time we play the bumblebee looking Steelers, our Special Teams will be a force to deal with. Rocket Rashad Ross and Will Blackmon will get some key blocks and start our explosive offense in good field position.

Can this 2016 Joe Barry defense stop the other team’s running-game? Will our pass-rush be quick enough to make the opposing quarterback hurry and not have time to set properly or go through his progressions?  How will the addition of Su’a Cravens on defense work?  Who will back up Josh Norman and Bashaud Breeland? Greg Toler? Quinton Dunbar? Kendall Fuller? Dashuan Phillips? What about nose-tackle? Who will back up Kedric Golston? Will it be Matt Ioannidis or my pick Jerrell Powe,330 lbs of power? I like our depth at linebacker with Willie Jefferson, 246 pounds of nasty and Martrell Spaight and Terrence Garvin made an impression on me.

At Left Guard, who will start there? Shawn Lauvao or Spencer Long?  Who will back up Kory Lichtensteiger at Center? I like Austin Reiter, but maybe Josh LeRibeus or Spencer Long. I am confident Ty Nsekhe will back up Trent Williams, our All Pro Left Tackle.  Also we can expect Brandon Scherff at Right Guard and “new and improved”,  335 lbs Morgan Moses at Right Tackle. What about Tacoby Cofield and Arie Kouandjio? I want to see some “pancake blocks”, some “slobberknocker hits”, open holes one could drive a truck through, Want the Offensive Line deserve to be known as HOGS 2.0  after the famous “HOGS”

Will some that made an impression get to play in this game or will they have to wait until game four?  It will probably be game four before we get to see Wide Receivers Maurice Harris. Reggie Diggs, Valdez Showers, Dez Stewart, or Kendall Thompson, T.J.Thorp, or Jarvis Turner.

I want our President Bruce Allen to get his wish, Players and coaches with FIRE IN THEIR BELLY for football, winning, being the best, and I want to see General Manager Scot McCloughan (Scotty Mac) to be smiling and seeing his Super Bowl team starting to actualize as his San Francisco 49er and Seattle Seahawks teams did.  He did it there and doing it here, I believe in our Washington Redskins leadership 100 percent.  Best NFL Drafts in 2015 and 2016 show they are building through the NFL Draft and not just for this season, but next seasons also.

In other words, its going to be exciting, interesting, and I predict the halftime score to be Redskins 21, Bills 10 with Kirk Cousins leading us to three touchdown scores.
