Update on Washington Redskins Mini Camp ‘Eye Candy’

As you know Minicamp is over and there is a 6 week break before Redskins Training Camp in Richmond, Va. on or about July 28th, 2016.  Currently, there is a 90 man roster going into training camp. Before 4 p.m. ET, on September 1st, all NFL clubs must reduce their rosters to a maximum of 75 players on the active list. It’s cut-down time in the NFL. Sept. 3: Final NFL Preseason games. Then on September 5th, before 4 p.m. ET, clubs must reduce rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the Active/Inactive List.

Here are some of little known players on our 90 man roster who have a chance to make the final 53.  The reader can go to the official site of the Washington Redskins, click on TEAM, then ROSTER, then the name of the play they want to find out about. One can also WIKI the name and find out any NFL Draft info, combine info, expert opinions about strength, weaknesses.

I have done research and talked to my sources about all the players and these are the players I feel that have a good chance of making the team.  Of course, the determining factor is their performances during Training Camp and how many slots available at that position, and coaches opinions.

Kevin Bowen:
O-line, probably at right tackle Kevin Bowen, 6’9″, 335. I think he will catch Bill Callahan’s coaching eye and could develop into a starter. Another O-line player I am impressed with is Ty Nsekhe, 335, 6’8″.O-line coach Bill Callahan will create the best O-line in the NFL, as he did with Oakland and Dallas.  He is one of the best position coaches, The GREAT WALL OF WASHINGTON is coming soon.

Matt Ioannidis:
On the defensive side, I really like 2016 draft pick Matt Ioannidis, 6’3″, 308 lbs. Listed on the roster as defensive end but I think Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry will use him in the nosetackle position to stop the run and push the opposing center back into the quarterback so he cannot move up into the pocket to avoid the pass-rush.  He showed leadership qualities, is a team player, coachable, smart, physical. I also like like Willie Jefferson, linebacker, 6’5″, 247. Played in the CFL for the Edmonton Eskimos and help lead the franchise to a Grey Cup title in 2015. Finally, another defensive player who has overcome alot of adversity, Jerrell Powe, and is the type of football player General Manager Scot McCloughan likes is  6’2″, 330, probably nose-tackle. You know he learned alot from his time with the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs, both known for good defense.

Keith Marshall:
Of course you know I predict 2016 7th round draft pick Keith Marshall to be something very special.  At the combine he ran a 4.29 and a 4.31 official time in “the FORTY”. This running-back also has “soft hands”, good receiver and I have no doubt he will become a fan favorite fast.  I am sure that Head-coach Jay Gruden and Offensive Coordinator  Sean McVay will have plans to use Marshall often. I can just see it now! Kirk Cousins screen pass to Keith Marshall, who fakes the corner-back out of his shoes and “HE’S GOING TO GO ALL THE WAY FOR A REDSKINS TOUCHDOWN!!!”

In summary, I predict (barring injury) Keith Marshall, Matt Ioannidis, Ty Nsekhe, Willie  Jefferson, Kevin Bowen, and Jerrell Powe  will remain Washington Redskins after the final cuts.

Thanks to excellent drafts in 2015 and 2016 added to our foundation of great players shows me our 2016 Washington Redskins team has the talent, potential to win every game, match up against any NFL team and is very underrated. I would hate to be the one to have to choose who will be on the final 53. I can see why all 90 players are on the roster.  They are that good.
